NCP 2.7 new gears – CAD generator included

Neugart, the globally renowned manufacturer of planetary gears, specialised gear boxes and customised gearing components, presents the newest version of the NCP (Neugart Calculation Programme), the design software for the complete drive train.

With the new version 2.7, the selection available to the user now includes the new PLPE 155 as well as the WPLE 60/70. Both of these model sizes were introduced at the SPS 2011. In addition, it is now possible for the user to select the ratio i=7 for almost all series.

However, the special highlight is the integrated CAD generator. As with the Neugart Online Tec Data Finder, the CAD specifications for the gear can be requested with just a few clicks of the mouse, based on the selected motor gear combination. Upon receiving the request, the NCP sends the request code online to the Neugart server. After only a few minutes, the user receives an e-mail with the CAD data and the corresponding motor version.

The motor database is then updated. Today, 9,000 different motors are included

The Software NCP 2.7 will continue to be available for free at NCP Download as of December 2011.

WPLE 60/70 - Bevel gears with high radial and axial forces

This new model size is an addition to the assortment of small model sizes of bevel gearboxes. The new model size offers high axial or radial forces of 1,000 N or 900 N with a service life of 20,000 h. The diverse selection of ratios, from i=3 through i=512, also offers a range of possibilities.

This makes the new model size WPLE 60/70 ideal for angular drives with high torques, high axial or radial loads, and moderate backlash.

Tec Data Finder – Making it easy to find documentation

With the aid of the Tec Data Finer, it is now possible to configure all types of CAD data and dimension sheets for the Neugart products. There are two possible approaches.

All of the standard data can be downloaded using a live search. Alternatively, a motor-specific configuration is possible.

For the second approach, the first step is to select the desired gearbox with all of its standard options. In the next step, the user can select from a database of over a thousand motors. If the desired motor is not available, the geometry data of the motor can be entered manually. Then the documentation is selected. CAD data can be selected as igs, stp or dfx. Alternatively, select to download the motor-based dimension sheet as a pdf. Currently, this dimension sheet is available in five different languages: German, English, French, Spanish and Italian. The last step is to enter a few pieces of personal information and send off the configuration. Just minutes later, the user receives an e-mail with the data.

The greatest advantage of this Tec Data Finder is the permanent availability of the standard documentation and the motor-based documentation. The logical design and intuitive interface mean that the user receives the desired data quickly and easily.

PLPE 155 - Growth with strong qualities

This new model size will fill the gap between model sizes 120 and 160. The new model size impressively outperforms the smaller model size 120, increasing the nominal torque by approx. 70%.

Improved bearing allows the PLPE 155 to support almost the same axial and radial loads as the PLE 160. With a backlash of 8 or 12 arcmin, depending on the distribution, the PLE 155 is ideally positioned in the Economy class.

All in all, the buyer acquires a good balance of torque, axial and radial loads, and backlash – and at a favourable price.

PLE model series optimised

Due to improved manufacturing processes, the backlash for the individual series could be reduced by up to 9 arcmin. For even more flexibility for the construction engineer, Neugart offers the ratio i=10 as of now. This expands the series' range of application.

The PLFN 200; Entry into new class

Torques of 630 to 2880 Nm can be realised starting now with the PLFN 200, the first large gearbox from Neugart. Of course, this flange gearbox is available in the accustomed high Neugart quality with the output geometry similar to EN ISO 9409. In addition, the PLFN 200 features a standard backlash of 3 or respectively 5 arcmin; with reduced backlash 1 arcmin. With its defined nominal torque, the new model size 200 has one of the highest power densities currently available on the market. The construction engineer can choose from a total of twelve ratios, from i=4 to i=100.

The new Economy pair; PLPE and WPLPE

In addition to the coaxial PLPE gearbox, interested parties can also find the WPLPE angle solution right away.

Generally, the two new series are assigned to the Economy gear family. With an alternative geometry to the PLE or WPLE series, they offer the construction engineer additional flexibility. Four model sizes are available: 50, 70, 90 and 120.

Developed based on the Neugart modular system, the new series distinguishes itself with solid performance data, high radial loads and a favourable price.

The new PLHE series; for utmost radial and axial forces

The new series is outstanding primarily due to the pre-tensioned tapered roller bearing with maximum radial forces of up to 6,000 N or respectively axial forces of up to 8,000 N.

Generally, the new series is assigned to the Economy gear family. Along with the output geometry of the Neugart PLN precision series, they provide a good alternative. In particular with applications that currently are equipped with precision gearboxes due to the high radial forces, the PLHE can score points in so far as the application permits a higher backlash. Three model sizes are offered: 60, 80 and 120.

Based on the development based on the Neugart modular system, the new series distinguishes itself with solid performance data, maximal axial and radial loads and an economic price.

All together, Neugart now offers six different Economy series in most varies geometries and performance classes. This ought to be quite unique in the market.

NCP 2.6 More gears – Improved help

Many new series have been integrated in the new Version 2.6. In addition to the new PLFN 200, the new Economy series PLPE and WPLPE have also been included.

The direct help has been expanded so that it is now possible to open a new help page with important definitions directly from the main window. Improved notes for the actual design have also been included.

The quite comprehensive motor database was revised once more.

In addition to these broad expansions, the documentation and the handling have been improved as well.

The Software NCP 2.6 is still available for free at NCP Download as of April 2011.

NCP 2.2 New Products – Better Documentation

The PLFN new flange gearbox is integrated as well in the new version 2.2. Of course, the already discontinued products remain so that already calculated and saved designs can be processed further.

Starting now in the documentation, the file name of the saved controlled system is also printed. This ensures a better transparency.

And finally, the gearbox information is expanded on the main window. This new value "D30 Motor shaft diameter" can then be changed directly by the arrow keys.

NCP 2.1 more service – more motors – new products

With the new version 2.1 the angular gearboxes WPLN are integrated. Of course the already denounced products will be still in the software, so that already calculated and saved drive trains can still be worked on.

Furthermore the number of motor information on the main mask were increased, in order to get more information of the motor itself.

Last but not least, the motor data base was increased resp. updated, so there are now approx. 8.000 motors in the data base.

Still the software is available for free under www.neugart.de.

Neugart and B

B&R integrates the planetary gears from Neugart in its product portfolio. The result is a motor-gearbox kit that leaves nothing to be desired. Customers can now select their individual motor-gearbox combinations and purchase these directly from B&R.

This provides the user with several benefits: The design or the optimal motor-gearbox combination is already made by the supplier.

The time-consuming design by the customer can be omitted. Furthermore, the customer receives the combination already premounted.

The expanded portfolio of B&R encompasses the complete Neugart product family, including all standard options.

Compact and highly precise

Thanks to a once more improved productions procedure, the PLFN gearboxes can also be offered with a reduced backlash (<1 arcmin). With this standard option, which by the way is also standard in the PLN model series now, the PLFN gearboxes can be also employed in high-precision applications.

In addition to the known options, Neugart can also use a broad range of lubricants. Besides the standard lubricant, low temperature and food-grade lubricants are available.

The new PLFN series consists of four model sizes with edge dimensions of 64 - 140 mm. Especially the nominal torques of up to 1,000 Nm are virtually unique on the market when compared with devices with similar dimensions.

To provide the user the best possible support in selecting a gearbox, the new PLFN series is integrated into the Neugart Calculation Programme (NCP).

Neugart gearboxes even more versatile

The most important option is the reduced backlash for both precision lines PLN and PLFN.

Through improved manufacturing processes these gearboxes can now be offered with a reduced backlash (<1 arcmin). With this standard option these gearboxes can be used in highly precise applications.

Additionally to the known options, Neugart can offer for all six standard lines different lubrications. Beside the standard lubrications, there are low temperature and food-grade lubrication possible.

NCP 2.0: The design software from Neugart with many new features

In April 2009, Neugart will introduce the version 2.0. Many new features have been implemented. The software was and remains free of charge and is available as a download at www.neugart.de.

In addition to the general load case, which has been available since the beginning of the software, two more application are available to the user now: "Rack-and-pinion" and "Rotary table". Furthermore, the new PLN model series has been integrated into the gear box database of NCP. The motor database has been also been expanded by a series of new motors so that there are more than 5500 motors available as a standard feature.
In addition to that, new modes of calculation are available to the user as well as many new tools and new display possibilities.

The NCP 2.0 is an impressive software that is easily and intuitively operated. Supported by a large motor database, various applications, all gear box data and many useful tools, the NCP is the ideal tool. Being multilingual, this system can be put to use around the world.

Turn the corner as quietly as a whisper

The most important change from the old model series is the angle. In the WPLS model series, spiral bevel gears with a 1:1 ratio were used, which have now been replaced by a bevel stage with hypopalloid gears. This makes it possible to realise ratios up to 10:1 without a planetary stage.

As a result of this design modification, it was possible to reduce the operating noise dramatically. Additionally, the output torque was increased significantly in comparison to solutions that currently exist on the market. Removing the planetary stage also made it possible to shorten the axial length of the gearbox considerably, thus improving the ease of assembly.

The output shaft can be supplied as a smooth model with fitting key, as a toothed shaft connection according to DIN 5480, or as a special shaft, custom-designed according to customer specifications. As output flange geometry, the flange of the PLS series as well as the flange with long centring component are available.

To provide the user the best possible support in selecting a gearbox, the new WPLN series is integrated into the Neugart Calculation Programme (NCP).

Neugart announces cooperation with Atlanta at the Hannover Fair

The two successful medium-sized enterprises will cooperate in the area of sales and distribution. It is now possible to order planetary gearboxes from Neugart, with integrated pinion and rack from Atlanta, including accessories from Neugart.

It is possible to combine the PLS and PLE gearbox series, as well as various racks and pinions with various qualities and sizes.

Neugart extends the service life of their planetary gearboxes

The gearbox models of the Economy series PLE, WPLE, and PLFE now have a service life of 30 thousand hours.

These values are possible thanks to technical improvements in the construction of the Economy series. Especially converting the bearing system of the planet gears to a full-needle bearing significantly extends the service life.

Furthermore the precision gearbox models PLS, WPLS, PLS HP, and PLF HP are now available. They have service lives of 20 or 30 thousand hours respectively.

These improved rates are Neugart's answer to the increased requirements of the market.

The output side of the two PLS series and the WPLS (angular gearbox) will from now on be equipped with pretensioned taper roller bearings instead of angular ball bearings.

Thanks to this redesign, the bearings of both gearbox series now have longer service lives.

Another advantage for the customer is the much higher radial forces that can be taken up by accessory parts such as toothed belts, pinions etc.

The distinguishing feature of the new precision planetary gearboxes is the deep centring collar at the output.
Thanks to this centring concept, the output bearing of the gearbox can be positioned closer to the load action point. Thus it is possible to bear higher radial loads. The large centring depth makes the entire unit more compact and increases its stiffness.

Neugart presents the PCS-2

The new PCS-2 (Precision Clamping System) combines the clamping ring and the pinion to one unit.
This results in several advantages.
Firstly the clamping ring can now no longer twist or fall during assembly. Secondly it was possible to slightly increase the transferable torque of the clamping connection by means of a special clamping system design, providing the customer with even more back-up power.
Likewise it was possible to improve the clamping accuracy by means of special constructive measures, which resulted in lower noise development at the gearbox. The moment of inertia and the overall length are still the same as in the customary PCS system. The balancing quality is also equal to that of the old PCS system. The PCS-2 is used in the PLE and PLFE economy series.

A special highlight of this edition is the new PLV: the precision gear unit with the deepest centring collar.
